The L word
I've had no qualms using the L word, Much like confetti I used to throw it around Although now I realise it's not so easily found You say it too much and you wear it out You don't say it enough and you're in a loveless drought It's balance lies in the recipient's hands It's timeless like flowing sands It can make your day and break your heart Use it wrong and it'll tear you apart It's an ephemeral dream floating in a sea of glass Of shards in pieces of glistening past It makes a burrow in your chest so deep It leaves a gash and lets the blood trickle and seep I've had no qualms about using the L word too early, too soon, for the heedless always Although now I find that what once was, never forever stays -VM
