Together, to drift away

Fate played a cruel game, it hurts to even say 

We came together only, to drift away 

From an endless stream of mirth, words and play 

We came together only, to drift away 

Destiny scorned our beautiful moments, every day 

It brought us together only, to have us drift away 

We try to hold contact, try to keep our agony at bay 

And we come together again, to drift further away 

We hark back to the past when it was all okay 

We ignore how each second we are drifting away 

We dream of a life, of the sun lending a beautiful ray 

Everyday, together to just drift and drift away 

We open our mouths to talk but what can we even say? 

How do we question the lacuna, of us drifting away 

And so each day we bear as our love in shambles lay 

We came together only to forever drift away
